The closest Viz gets to a mission statement is a promise to never change and never really grow up. For as long as there are people who enjoy taking a swipe at modern politically correct Britain and its 'cult of celebrity' culture, Viz will be there to give them exactly what they want.

The Magazine

Viz - the self-styled “third or fourth funniest magazine in Britain (possibly fifth)” - has been (dis)gracing the nation’s newsagents’ shelves since 1979. Its irreverent mix of bad language, childish cartoons and sharp satire has seen its creators hauled over the coals by the United Nations, questioned by Scotland Yard’s anti-terrorist branch and exhibited in the Tate Gallery. As Viz enters its fourth decade, its comic characters, such as the Fat Slags, Sid the Sexist, and Roger Mellie the Man on the Telly, as well as its hugely popular Top Tips and the Profanisaurus sections are firmly established as national institutions, just like Broadmoor Hospital for the Criminally Insane. The popularity of these features has led to such demand from Viz’s fanbase that we now publish across multiple platforms from print to digital. More recently, we have delivered the launch of the best selling Profanisaurus ‘App’ which has been an instant hit in the iTunes store.

The Market
Whilst men’s titles regularly fade in and out of our consciousness with trends and technology, Viz remains undoubtedly unique within British society. Few other titles inspire the same level of loyalty and passion amongst its fans, the result of which means that much of Viz’s audience now assumes a significantly more mature form that it did way back in 1979. Whilst Viz’s core audience has undoubtedly ‘grown up’ the brand still recruits new readers via its many licensing partnerships, books and digital-platform brand extensions.

While glossy 'men's' magazines may come and go Viz remains steadfastly different. Few other titles inspire the same level of loyalty and passion amongst their fans and this has led to the magazine’s readership maturing in tandem with the title. This gives Viz an unmatched audience in terms of consistency and means that the level of reader interaction remains as high as ever.

A Unique Advertising Opportunity
Viz consistently delivers an audience of affluent, educated readers who think for themselves and are difficult to reach through other sources. Viz offers outstanding value to its advertisers and offers them the chance to stand out in an overwhelmingly editorial environment.

With the Viz brand available online, on mobile, and through a vast array of annuals and books - as well as the ever popular heart of the brand - the comic, Viz remains the best way to reach over half a million affluent readers in their own environment.
