About Us: Our Responsibilities
Although Dennis Publishing prides itself on its opportunistic approach and sense of fun at work, we take our employment, environmental and social responsibilities very seriously.
ENVIRONMENTAL
- PC Pro, one of our major IT brands, launched a 'Switch IT Off' campaign in 2005. Now in its third year, the campaign encourages all users of PCs, printers and peripherals to switch off standby modes whenever possible. We have used our influence to save kilowatts of power.
- Throughout the Dennis Group, we use energy-efficient light bulbs and water-saving devices wherever possible.
- Our offices all have recycling bins for paper and DVDs/CDs.
- Our Ride to Work scheme encourages staff to buy a bike and cycle to work. There is plenty of cycle space (and showering facilities) in our Central London HQ.
- We operate an interest-free travelcard loan scheme to encourage all staff to use public transport to and from work.
- In 2007, we centralised over 90% of our production into a single print site to reduce transport costs and wastage.
SOCIAL
- Dennis Publishing is involved in numerous charities in the UK. Recently we have supported Springfield Mind, Comic Relief and NewstrAid.
- We operate a Give As You Earn scheme for all employees, which gives nominated charities a substantial tax benefit.
- Felix Dennis, our Chairman, is a well-known philanthropist and planter of trees. Over the past 12 months he has funded the planting of hundreds of thousands of trees in the Warwickshire countryside.
PAPER
- Dennis Publishing purchase the majority of their paper from the James McNaughton Paper group and Denmaur Paper, both of which are fully FSC and PEFC certified. All papers contain high percentages of certified and traceable fibre, and are manufactured by the world’s leading paper companies.
- Dennis Publishing’s printers ensure that all waste, wherever practical, is recycled. This includes ink, plates, unprinted paper, printed paper, cardboard, dust and broken pallets. A full accreditation audit took place on 1/10/07 for ISO 9001:2000 (Quality), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental) and ISA 18001:1999, with certification to follow.
