Dennis Publishing appoints new Publishing Director for fitness division

London, July 2010: Dennis Publishing can today announce the appointment of Richard Downey as Publishing Director for Men's Fitness and Health & Fitness with immediate effect. He will be working alongside Editorial Director, Pete Muir, as well as individual magazine editors, advertising teams and all other central resources staff.
Downey joined Dennis Publishing in 1998, and has published a variety of magazines including Poker Player, Viz and Monkey. Most recently, Downey was Publishing Director of Dennis Media Transasia India Ltd in India for 18 months, where he successfully launched Sports Illustrated India and a digital platform, knowyourmobile.in.
Resuming his 12 year career at the UK offices of Dennis Publishing, Richard Downey, said: "I could not have asked for a more exciting opportunity with which to resume my publishing career in the UK. Fitness has always been a subject I have held a strong interest in and the opportunity to develop Men's Fitness and Health & Fitness is a very exciting one indeed. As with all brands, revenue generation will be one of my primary focuses, but I will also be looking to work closely with the superb editorial teams I have inherited to make the products better, more useful and more successful."
