Dennis Publishing announces positive ABC Results

The Week becomes the most subscribed to weekly magazine in the UK London, 11 February 2010: Dennis Publishing today announced its Jul-Dec 2009 ABC results, featuring a particularly strong performance from its current affairs title The Week and further growth in the health and fitness portfolio. Both evo and Octane magazines saw growth in the same period, both in subscriptions and newsstand, and Digital SLR Photography delivered a massive 27% increase YOY to 29,208. The Week: Fitness portfolio: Motoring portfolio: Elsewhere, Digital SLR Photography magazine has recorded a substantial increase of 27.0% YOY to 29,208. The title was acquired by Dennis Publishing in October 2008 and released a debut ABC of 23,005 in 2009. Men's Fitness and Health & Fitness continue to show sustained, rapid growth
DSLR Photography bucks the downward trend in the category to grow 27%
Weekly current affairs title The Week is celebrating its 23rd consecutive ABC rise following a year on year rise of 9.8% that takes its circulation to 169,690. The Week continues to grow its subscription base at an impressive rate and now has over 144,000 active subscribers to the title.
Men’s Fitness posted a positive ABC performance with a 1.3% increase for the year, raising its circulation to 68,037. The result represents the 17th circulation increase for the title in the last 18 ABC periods. Recently acquired Dennis title Health & Fitness posted an ABC of 32,580, which is up 8.1% YOY.
Octane, Dennis Publishing’s classic and performance car magazine, posted a 5.3% increase for the period, taking its readership to 33,341. Performance car title evo posted an increase of 3.0% for the period to take its total circulation to 64,580. These increases defy a difficult market during 2009 for the motoring category and show that Dennis continues to innovate and invest in the sector.
In line with our rivals, the second half of 2009 proved a difficult and challenging time for print media. However, our period on period results show that the worst may be over and that the titles in our Technology and Lifestyle divisions are making a recovery and performed extremely well against their direct competitors.
