Why Work at Dennis
Our office is slap bang in the heart of the West End. Just a stone's throw away from Charlotte Street and its many bars and restaurants, five minutes from Oxford Street and Soho and right in the hub of London's media land.
Dennis is like a family – we’re a very sociable company – and you can feel it in the atmosphere the minute you walk through the door and see the fishtank. It continues right up through the modern, bright and vibrant offices where the majority of our magazines are made.
Don’t just take our word for it, though – in our last staff survey 91% of employees said they enjoyed working at Dennis and would recommend it as a great place to work. An incredible 97% of employees felt they made a significant contribution and got a great sense of achievement from the work they do.
It’s all You, You, You!
Dennis has two assets – its brands and its people. And the only reason for the success of our brands is our people. It follows that we think your personal and career development is pretty important. You will have regular performance reviews (appraisals) and have access to training and development programmes that include both in-house and external courses.
The sky’s the limit
Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result” O. Wilde. Our employees often describe Dennis in three words: dynamic, exciting and ambitious. We empower our people to be accountable for the decisions they make and we support them in doing so. We aim to cultivate an environment rich in opportunity that supports initiative and encourages development and future growth.
We expect much from our employees and in return they can expect much from us and we are proud to offer a place of work where they feel supported for blazing their own trail.
As a Company we invest in our stars of the future, we have an internal coaching programme in place that is dedicated to developing our future talent. Our Chief Executive began life at Dennis as a Features Editor and we want to believe each person we recruit could be the next one.
A Team Effort!
As a Company we need to understand where we are now, what we do well, and where we may need to improve. In order to get this feedback; each year we conduct a staff survey asking our employees their thoughts on how we can work together to make Dennis an even better place to work. Our employees know that this isn’t just a form filling exercise; we listen to what is said and more importantly try to act on their feedback in order to implement real change.
Its time to party…
We love a social event at Dennis, in fact, we love them so much that we have created a specially dedicated Social Committee who are tasked with coming up with fun and engaging ideas for future events as well as canvassing opinion from colleagues on the type of events they want to have. In recent years we have increased the number of social gatherings with more pub quizzes, team outings such as outward bound weekends and Company parties to name but a few.
Making a difference…
We take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. So much so, that we have created a team that can dedicate time and resource to this important area. The Dennis CSR team is a voluntary group of employees from across the business that are tasked with looking at the ethical and social position of the company locally, nationally, and in the wider world.
It is more than about just being green – the team look seriously at energy use, our treatment of paper and stationary, and even where the coffee and toilet paper comes from.
The Dennis CSR team has the full support of the board of directors as well their peers and have successfully raised awareness on a number of burning issues. They work tirelessly to combine their skills and expertise to implement both short and long term initiatives to bring about real change to the business.
