– Over 5,000 trees planted in a single day –

25 January, 2018: Over 45 Dennis staff and representatives from Wavemaker media agency, swapped their everyday shoes for wellies and exchanged the hustle and bustle of the office for a day of tree planting as part of the Heart of England Forest’s Big Planting Day. The planting took place at the Forest’s newest site comprising 429 acres at Sheriffs Lench in Worcestershire.

The Heart of England Forest was the vision of Felix Dennis, founder of Dennis, who began planting trees in the late 1990s. He set up the Heart of England Forest charity in order to help reverse centuries of woodland decline. An exciting charity with a long-term business plan to plant tomorrow’s great native woodland: a 30,000 acre broadleaf forest in England.

The Dennis contingent joined other corporate supporters of the charity on the planting day which saw a grand total of 5,280 trees planted in just one day.  The Dennis team managed to plant 2,880 broadleaf saplings, which included birch, cherry, alder and hornbeam, in just four hours, which was some record.

According to Head Forester, Stephen Coffey: “The planting of 5,280 trees by volunteers in one day is a magnificent achievement. This is the best daily total so far for our volunteers this tree planting season, so we have a record broken!”

Kate Conroy, Talent Acquisition Manager at Dennis, said: “Coming out to the forest is like therapy with the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. It’s always good to get a little muddy sometimes! We’re very lucky to get the opportunity to work with the Heart of England Forest and it’s amazing to see the rewards of everyone’s hard work. We’re very proud and grateful to everyone at Dennis for their continued support. Bring on the next 3,000 trees!”

Well done to everyone who took part.
